An easy walk around the Port Cartwright Reserve, in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland, near Maroochydoore. The walk starts at La Balsa carpark and loops out to and around the lighthouse via the coastal path and on the way back runs along the river. The Point Cartwright Lighthouse was automated in late 1978 and officially opened on September 10, 1979 by the then Federal Transport Minister, Mr Nixon. The lighthouse is a reinforced concrete pentagonal tower surmounted by a concrete lantern. It has a total height of 32.4 metres and was built at a cost of $221,000 and is unmanned.
